How and Why Positive Education is Improving the World

There are many reasons to why and how positive education is changing the world for the better. In many places all around the world and in many education systems, it’s already doing exactly that.

However, to understand it all, we must first delve into positive psychology as the successes of positive education stem from it.

Why Positive Psychology Matters

Many people fail to understand positive psychology, and they thus fail to comprehend its benefits and why it matters for the world.

Clearly; positive psychology is the study of all the things that make life worth living. With such a simple and straightforward explanation that’s both honest and pure, it barely understandable that many people fail to grasp how this crucial scientific study works.

Positive psychology is in many ways similar to all other approaches of human studies, but its main advantage over all of them is the fact that it focuses on our strengths instead of our weaknesses.

It’s all about building the good in us, making us happy and improving the lives of humans as a whole.

What Is Positive Education?

Positive education stems from positive psychology because the main idea behind it is the same – well-being and improvement, but in this case, of students.

Positive education is all about developing the young and turning them into good citizens and leaders who will further improve the world, which should be the primary goal of every education system.

The fact here is that this form of education works. Many have talked about its growth and how the number of schools using the method has increased over the past decade. Groups like the International Positive Education Network (IPEN) and the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA) exist to improve the method further and promote the values of positive education.

These groups and professionals who see the benefits of real education strive to spread it and introduce it to all schools throughout the world. That mission is hard, and there’s a long way to go until we reach that destination, but it is possible. What’s more, it’s likely.

The Benefits of Positive Education

The implementation of  Positive education in schools and institutions has proven to be effective. In developed countries like Australia, it has already demonstrated its effectiveness and strives to be implemented system-wide. It still hasn’t reached the less developed countries, but all research suggests that it will be even more effective in such locations.

Its success comes from the fact that there’s not much complexity to it, its core teaching is the wellbeing of students as that enhances our learning and develops us into better human beings and good citizens.

Positive education notes that any good school shouldn’t just aim to help students achieve their academic potentials. That will only develop their professional lives in the future. Positive education, on the other hand, strives to promote the core values every human should possess as only through those values can we become better humans and better leaders who will improve the world.
